Le Café de la Paix: the sublime historic restaurant in Paris with a renovated setting

The Café de la Paix, this world-famous restaurant listed as a Historic Monument is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful restaurants in Paris. The emblematic Parisian restaurant, ideally located on the magnificent Place de l’Opéra, has been welcoming you since its renovation in its two bright and airy spaces, completely redesigned by the architect Pierre-Yves Rochon in 2021.

the Cafe of peaceit is one of coffee shops most famous of the capital. With her terrace which open out on the Opera Garnierher room listed as historical monuments and his iconic greenit is one of those key places that make the soul of Paris. Since 2021, the famous French institution has been renovated and once again reveals its beautiful attractions.

It is the interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon who orchestrated this restoration of the Café de la Paix. His mission ? VSto preserve the soul and the heritage of Cafe of peace while giving it a touch of modernity. A goal largely achieved since the new design brings much more brightness to the place.

The architect decided to keep the two atmospheres of the restaurant. So side Capucine Boulevards, we discover a large room restaurant punctuated by its famous fluted columns and its ceilings ornate boxes painted skies. The furniture, in dark wood, consists of Louis XVI style armchairs upholstered in cream leatherbenches in green velvet all embellished with golden keys and one profusion of lights who give thanks to the volume and the majesty of the place.

Side Opera SquarePierre-Yves Rochon invites Parisians for a day or forever to have a drink, lunch or enjoy a pastry on the go in a setting of winter Garden. We discover there a furniture in bleached oak which suits the motives foliage prints cushions and fabrics imitating straw stretched on the walls. On the floor, the carpet is inspired by a design of foliage by Madeleine Castaing, famous decorator of Saint-Germain-des-Prés from the 1930s to the 1980s.

And in theplatethe Chef Laurent Andrea Jura resident trained withAlain Chapel and Alain Ducasse, offers beautiful recipes from the French culinary arts, reinterpreted with brilliance and modernity. The famous Café de la Paix onion soupmade according to the recipe developed at the opening in 1862, is obviously still on the menu.

The local products are honored in the two menus offered by Laurent Andre, Return from the Market Where Discovery in five courses. In which we find all kinds of quality dishes such as confit duck foie gras, lobster dumplings, veal chop in casserole, scallops marinated in lemon caviar…

The sweet tooth are not to be outdone since beautiful homemade pastries are on the program. Among them, the two stars of the house: the minute caramelized millefeuille and theobviously operaboth of which are necessarily presented in a version greedy and intense in flavor.

To note that The Intercontinental Le Grand Hotel which houses the famous address also welcomes you under its beautiful glass roof, just renovated, to taste the Café de la Paix signature dishes and to (re)discover the creations of VShef Laurent André. The hotel also offers a number of historical suites or signatures who have been able to take advantage of the pandemic to give themselves a touch of freshness.
